Carpenter Street Hotel

Great location, just a walk from Springfield downtown. We stayed here for one night while in the area, and everyone was super nice and they even let us check in early with our little guy. Rooms were clean, and there's free breakfast. Checkout time is 11am which is great too, as it's not as early as other places we've stayed at. Free parking in the lot too. Overall, great stay and great location!

This is a great little hotel in central Springfield! The staff are very friendly, it’s in a great location, and the breakfast is tasty. They offer coffee and hot cocoa through the day and evening, which is always a nice touch. The one downside is that the rooms aren’t always as clean as they could be. That could be fixed with a better wipe down between customers, but it’s nothing filthy. Just some residual dust/dirt.

Rooms are incredibly affordable, but a bit on the small side. The beds were comfortable and clean. Overall a nice stay and close to downtown.

Very helpful and friendly staff! Husband Just had surgery and stayed here to rest and they were very helpful, made sure we had a room that was accessible easily and on first floor. They knew he would not want interrupted after surgery and was scheduled at 5 am to be at the hospital, when we got back at 9am they had everything in our room cleaned, fresh towels and extra pillows for support on his arm. Thank you! I will use this location every visit! Safe environment and secure!

If you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel while visiting the sights in Springfield, Illinois the Carpenter Street Hotel is a solid choice. A friendly place with a helpful staff and clean rooms and facilities. Breakfast for me was less than satisfying because the "Coffee Machine" was awful. That's all I'll say. Otherwise the rest of the Breakfast items were fine. Eat out. But stay here!

Very nice independent hotel in Springfield, IL that my wife and I stayed along the way during our Route 66 trip last week. The rooms were nice and clean, the staff was friendly, the breakfast buffet was average, and parking was more than adequate. We stayed at many hotels along the way of our trip. Some that were highly hyped turned out to be underwhelming, such as a famous one in St. Clair, MO. I would stay at the Carpenter Street Hotel again if I visit Springfield, IL in the future.

I visit Springfield about once a month for about a year or two now, and this hotel is by far the best I have stayed in. First, the staff were incredibly nice and welcoming. I stayed in the basic king size bed room, but this room is anything but basic. The room itself was huge, with a very tall ceiling, a winged back (clean) chair, a desk and desk chair, refrigerator, microwave, an oversized covered bench (to put the luggage on), a floor lamp, and 2 night stands. And there was still plenty of room for a rollaway, if needed. The room, bathroom, bed, linens, towels were so clean and did not have an unusual odor. The bathroom had a long vanity with a mirror all the way across. Oh and there was a full length mirror confidently placed in the room. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

7-26-25 Decent place. Not the nicest area/neighborhood. Some homeless hanging around the area. Clean room, hot shower, ok bed. Room had a slight musty odor but not terrible. Nothing a little Cologne or perfume can't fix. Decent breakfast. Good price.
